Photography.
I am a keen amateur, always have been, but only in recent years and the advent of digital equipment was I able to take total control and produce the pictures I had always dreamed of. My main cameras are Canon DSLRs, one Eos 30D and the other an Eos 1D mk II. This latter shoots 8 frames/second so it shouldn’t surprise you to know that I normally fill a 1 gigabyte card with 250 shots during one match. Lenses though, are far more important in obtaining consistently sharp, bright shots and of my seven modern lenses, only one is non Canon. For sport I use two image stabilized “L” series zoom lenses, expensive, but absolutely necessary to capture the action – especially in winter’s often low light or floodlights.
As an amateur with a pretty good job, I don’t exactly need work so I do not normally take on weddings and big events – only for friends. Rather, I like to think I can provide an affordable service for the things I enjoy – Rugby (obviously), sailing, Rotary functions, flying (GA), wildlife (but they never buy prints!) etc. as and when I am available. Having said all that, I enjoy photography and I am now starting some portrait work, so if you have a local requirement (Towcester, Northants or River Crouch for Sailing), we can always have a chat.
