Photography.
I am a keen amateur, always have been, but only in recent years and the advent of digital equipment was I able to take total control and produce the pictures I had always dreamed of. My main cameras are Canon DSLRs, one Eos 30D and the other an Eos 1D mk4. This latter shoots 10 frames/second so it shouldn’t surprise you to know that I normally take about 250 shots during one match, so sorting them all out on Sunday takes quite a while. Lenses though, are far more important in obtaining consistently sharp, bright shots and of my seven modern lenses, only one is non Canon. For sport I use two image stabilized “L” series zoom lenses, expensive, but absolutely necessary to capture the action – especially in winter’s often low light or floodlights.
As an amateur with a decent pension, I don’t exactly need work so I do not normally take on weddings and big events – only for friends or very special occasions. Rather, I like to think I can provide an affordable service for the things I enjoy – Rugby (obviously), Rotary functions, flying (GA), wildlife (but they never buy prints!) etc. as and when I am available. Having said all that, I enjoy photography and I am now starting some portrait work, so if you have a local requirement (Towcester, Northants, we can always have a chat.
